Before going here, make sure you are okay with being forced to take a string of SPU-only classes until jr year. These are the so-called Core classes. They are mostly a mix of social studies in a Christian perspective. These classes are considered full 5-credit classes which often limit your choices. The programs worthwhile here are Nursing and Business. Other programs are rather limited.

The community here is good if you are in a dorm besides Emerson. Emerson is dead-quiet and antisocial. You can make a close group of friends quite easily but the overall floor unity is poor compared to a dorm like Hill. Dorm unity is non-existent and even if you leave your door open not much happens. SPU prides itself on community which is true yet limited since people tend to stick with their usual cliques. The experience is much like high school with the small student body. Also, there are many girls here. As a girl, it is hard mingling with guys. Usually girls will overdo the effort and be over-assertive with guys.

Food? Rather good in comparison to other schools. But very limited and they do not give you much fruit or meat. The meat they serve is bland. The fruit is always the batch of apples the supermarket had to throw out. Gwinn here is the one and only dining hall. You get tired of it eventually.

Partying? Never on this dry campus. UW is nearby however. Otherwise the parties the campus offers are awkward and feel much like high school.

Seattle is amazing if you do not mind being cold. Going out to Seattle is an immediate cure of feeling enclosed by the SPU bubble.

Students? Most were raised in a closed perspective and are generally clueless. Some people here are shockingly ethnocentric when it comes to religion. Even if you state an idea out of practicality, they prefer to choose their conservative Christian views. They are VERY conservative here. And diversity is not abundant like in most private schools.

Additionally many students are not so bright since the school has a high acceptance rate. Many students are clueless. Although they know morals well, they know little academically.

Don't be fooled by the financial aid package. This school demands lots of money from you either way. Why pay to be surrounded by clueless people, be forced to take an irrelevant curriculum, and still be a graduate from a school no one has really heard of?
