i would rate UM-D neither positive or negative for reasons of my own. however, I will try to be helpful and objective in why i rated it neutral. a pro of UM-D is that most of the faculty are not legalistic in following their office hours to meet with students. many of them accept phone calls or reply through their smart phones. thus, idealistically, everyone should be able to meet their goals for their respective courses. another pro is that the study areas are marvelous. UM-D provides many quiet zones and comfy seating across campus. in almost any building, but CASL, good study areas can be found. just ask any passing student and they might recommend good places to go. this point actually leads into my cons for UM-D. UM-D is necessitated to hire many security staff to enforce rules against horse-play and loudness. it is the common consensus that UM-D is very cliquey. i would add to this that many of the social mobs are also arrogant bull-headed idiots. except for a few pseudo-geniuses here and there, most members of social mobs are animals and can only be interacted with as animals, that being subversive to higher beings on the social hierarchy chart and aggressive to those quiet few deemed foot rests. that being said, i would recommend UM-D to anyone looking for cheap tuition and a great location. also, if you demand a social atmosphere, it may be the place for you. however, if are the type that couldn't stand social crap in middle school or high school, try to get involved in any one of the many great clubs on campus, excluding the social clubs. i say the social clubs because i have witnessed friends almost dropping out of UM just because i've had friends join greek clubs. im sure hazing occurred and im also sure that they expect you to dedicate large amounts of time to their causes.
