Sounds like you had Charlie Bauer as one of your instructors … seems like nothing much has changed since I was there 1985-1989—Although at that time there were still a few of the outstanding old-timers teaching. |
Major: Computer Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
It would have been easier to learn the subject matter off the license plate of a bus that is in the process of driving over you… That being said, few of the teachers are priceless, no one else performs any meaningful act of "teaching" aside from that, if you end up with the wrong carbon based life form prepare for total pownage. The douche will probably ramble about something that he ought to be teaching to the grads, i'm guessing "impress" us, then when you ask a question you'll be told to check your books. At this point you're likely to realize that neither of the two editions of the required text that have cost well over 200 per, explains anything, which might go a long way to explain why each IIT textbook scores a 2-3 stars on amazon. I especially love the books which ask questions based on things not previously discussed at all, and of course the favorite book of all IIT engineers has to be the magic spell book, otherwise known as diff eq. A book so fine that it does not even need words or numbers to explain any of the subject matter, simply excellent. To be fair, I have taken its teachings to heart and just like the author, I used the built-in solver on my calculator for all homeworks and tests, its convenient ta point out to the teacher that you followed the examples in the book precisely, "here is the question rewritten and then MaGiC and here is the answer (bonus points for drawing a cloud around the word magic!). …Other then that, 1/4 of the buildings are crumbling to the point where you can walk off with bricks out of the wall, 1/4 have rusted through and the remainder is so poorly designed that you just know a famous architect was behind it. I do enjoy looking at the archies through their upside down aquarium, its relaxing to see them swimming and pretending like there doing something super useful…
