Kennesaw State University

As a high school student I made average grades (3.2) (1050 SAT) These grades are decent but not good enough to get me into a big time school. (ie UGA or GA Tech) My mother wanted me to have the "College Experience" so she bought a year lease in the dorms. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER. WARNING TO PEOPLE CONSIDERING KENNESAW STATE. DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS! The students are generally friendly and accepting but I did hear some remarks about my Jewish faith. Back to the dorms. The housing unit is a total separate entity from the actual University itself. Incoming Freshman have required to sign a year lease for $6000. That is $535 a month for "luxury dorms. (And Honestly who in college needs luxury dorms) If a student pays late it is a $50 charge (per late week) If a student loses their plastic room key card or is locked out it is a $25 charge. Believe me this adds up quickly. Whoever is in charge of the Kennesaw dorms is a greedy Mother F*****. And to cancel the contract and move back home, which I'm trying to do now it is 1/2 of the remaining contract. For me at this moment that is over $1000. :(

The next part about living on campus:

If you don't have a car then you are basically stuck on campus. There are limited activities, NO restaurant or bars to go to. (Such as in Athens, GA) Ok when I say limited there are NO ACTIVITIES. The worst part about this is people leave for the weekend. It is a GHOST TOWN. And without a car it SUCKS. I literally sit in my dorm room and stare at the walls.

IF YOUR IDEA OF A COLLEGE EXPERIENCE IS TO GET DRUNK INSIDE OF YOUR DORM ROOM, THAN BELIEVE ME KENNESAW IS THE PLACE FOR YOU.

Note about Faculty and Academics:

The faculty is somewhat helpful in terms of schoolwork. If you give a teacher an email, they usually respond, although I had a bad experience in Sociology with Ms. Robin Crawford. (Don't take that class) The classes are not that difficult but are fun to debate different concepts in. I guess this is a "somewhat positive" part of the review. But does not outweigh the negative of social life and on-campus housing.

I read another review on here about "Sane Christians" If you are not Christian or Jewish such as myself, the people here are very pushy with their religion. They will hand you flyers about how "Jesus is your lord and savior" etc… It gets quite annoying after a while.

Also the Internet here is total crap inside the dorm rooms. The wireless does not work at all. And If you decide to live inside the dorm rooms (I don't know why the hell you would, buy an ethernet cord.) For $535 I expect to have some decent wireless to complete my college assignments.

Last bit of Information. There is NO SCHOOL PRIDE. NO football team, and a crappy basketball team. One of my friends summed it up best. At Kennesaw people wear t-shirts of other colleges. Thats lame.

Anyway I hope this review has been helpful. Save yourself time, money, and happiness by not applying to this half ass excuse for a school.
