The University of Alabama - Huntsville

i've been to other universities because me and my wife have had to move a couple of times and let me tell you, this one is not what a college experience should be. the administration nickel and dimes you to death with any kind of fee they can come up with to charge you. the administration also takes the stance that the students are always wrong and at fault but never the university. i hate to bring this up and its not totally the fault of the administration but, the students as well as some faculty petitioned to have amy bishop (the teacher that shot all of those people) removed, but the university did not listen/care what they had to say and look what happened. six exceptional people were shot, three of which died. the teachers are miserable because they havent had raises in over three years and their misery is reflected in the quality of their teaching. in my opinion as well as many, many others, the president (DAVID B. WILLIAMS) has caused nothing but turmoil here. he makes about $500,000 a year + he made an $85,000 bonus last year, but somehow the university can't afford to help out the faculty. since he has taken over enrollment has dropped in the double digits. there is no sort of campus life so don't expect that. many of the teachers are more worried about their research projects than they are about teaching so don't expect to get much help from them outside of class. i am a junior and i am transferring out after this semester as so many others are doing. i feel like i have wasted a ton of my money because i havent learned anything but somehow i have a 3.7 GPA. all they do here is show you how to go through the motions without actually teaching you anything. i have heard from so many people that graduated from here that they are having a hard time finding jobs because they were not prepared by the university to enter the workforce in their particular fields of study. for my last little bit of school i'm going somewhere that will better prepare me for a career. for the most part all you will do is book work with next to no applications of what you are supposedly taught and then they will send you on your merry way. if you want to learn and be prepared to start a career go somewhere else. like i said, i have wasted a bunch of money and time here and i am done. go to alabama or auburn or wherever but do not come to UAH as you will most certainly be wasting your time and money here as well.
