Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I had a great experience at Northern Illinois University. There are so many resources at your feet. The professor?s I had were leaders in their field and really cared about teaching. However, there are some things this university can improve on such as keeping the library open 24 hours during finals week. Also, DeKalb can get brutally cold in the winter, so have a warm coat.On a side not, it seem today that too many students are looking for beer and a circus experience in college. They think all colleges should be like Disneyland with resort -like dorms and halls. They forget to realize that you have such a great learning opportunity by attending college and seem to take it for granted. So many people around the world dream of attending universities but don?t have the means to do so. And you can imagine, once they do get the opportunity, they won?t be wasting much of their time partying all weekend. [Once in a while is okay =)]Today?s world is much more competitive. At NIU you get a great education at a value price, in other words, you get a great bang for your buck. My advice for incoming students (freshman and transfer) is to participate in campus activities, get to know your professors, join a club, study abroad and take advantage of the array of opportunities they have at NIU. Also, remember that every student is an ambassador to their university so take that responsibility seriously.
