UIS is not the kind of college that you see on MTV. If you are looking for a school that fits into that image, do not even consider UIS, and just walk away now. It is a small school in a small city without a lot to do. However, it has great academic programs, and getting a degree that says University of Illinois on it can take you far. The Professors are great, and other than one or two rotten apples, they have all been friendly and willing to help. UIS is also the cheapest U of I school, and one of the cheapest universities in the state. If you are looking for a school with a great academic program UIS is for you. Yet, you will be making a serious trade off with social life. The administration can also be very difficult to work with, and that includes most of the other school staff. Many workers have been doing their job for decades, and are not willing to do any extra work to help you out. Housing on campus is nice and they are currently remolding the apartments. However, the housing administration on campus is a nightmare and RA's are getting to get you in trouble so beware. Honestly, I am only staying at this school because I have a great group of friends and I am involved alot on campus. I would advise you to go to another school.
