This
is my first semester at MTSU, and I can't wait
to graduate; just so I can get the hell away
from here. The academics are sub-par, and half the teachers
don't know what they are even teaching. You aren't
going to be challenged educationally at MTSU, all you have
to do is show up for class and you can
pass. The art department is somewhat great, but most of
the teachers are just “artists with tenures”. In other words,
they don't care about teaching you, just passing you so
their reviews look good on paper.
When it comes
to the student body, it is terrible. There are three
types of students; rich, snobby kids who couldn't go to
a fancier school because of their parents, ghetto black people
from Memphis, and lazy hippy druggies.
The safety at
MTSU is a major problem. Most of the black men
you see walking around, especially at night, are NOT students.
There are people who pack guns and knives and
bring them to classes, last year someone put hypodermic needles
in the vending machines, cars are always being broken into,
stuff gets stolen, and at least once a week someone
is raped or assaulted; most of the time by black
males.
There is an undercurrent of drug use at
MTSU, and not the typical “college stuff” like pot or
Ecstasy, but rather cocaine, meth, heroin, and other things. Most
of the students come to class hungover, high, and not
caring.
In essence, MTSU is not a serious college
for people interested in education; but rather a party place
for people to receive financial aid and spend it on
booze, drugs, and fancy cars.
