Like every university, Montclair State has its good point and bad. Yes, a lot of the buildings are old and lowly maintained, however, the school is undergoing a lot of construction to renovate and change up the buildings. The new dorm buildings, The Heights, are supposed to be fantastic, and Frank Sinatra is also new and pleasant to live in as well. Though a lot of buildings are old and are either falling apart, or something just isn't right with them.I have had a pleasant experience with the faculty, you're not going to be in love with every professor you have, but overall the teachers do care about you to extent. If you try, and if you need help and seek it, they are more than willing to help you.The food is pretty mediocre, having to pay a hefty amount for mediocre food. Though it costs a heft buck, getting a constant pass is the best solution because you can go to the dining halls as much as you need too. Overall, depending on your tolerance for food, Montclair doesn't have too much of a variety of food to choose from. Montclair isn't a typical party school. Because the majority of students go home on the weekends, the campus is usually quiet. it's not like most schools where you're guaranteed to find a rager every weekend. Parties usually consist of in the dorms, or in the off campus dorms like the village, and for those you usually have to know somebody to get invited. There are many fraternities and sororities, but all of the frat houses are located off campus, somewhere where you'd usually need a car to get too, it's not easy to walk to like most frat houses. Overall, if you're well connected in the party scene, you'll be sure to have a fun time.
