Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
Some classes are very easy and some are very challenging here; it all depends on the professor and the subject. I can't directly compare K-State to other colleges but compared to what I hear from high school friends who attend other colleges, K-State classes seem to be about in the middle as far as difficulty. All of my professors have been competent, and some have been the best teachers that I have had in my whole life. Lower lever classes are often large, 100 to 200 students. As far as the social scene goes, nearly everyone is friendly and approachable. The university sponsors lots of leisure activities for students, but the town of Manhattan is your basic small town, without much in the way of cultural activities. There's a continual rift between the town residents and the students, and there have been some nasty crackdowns by police on some of the parties. If there's one thing wrong at K-State, it's that it's way too easy to get in, so there are lots of freshmen who are destined to fail out in their first year. But those who take school at least somewhat seriously will do fine.
