I hated high school, and I hate Marietta. If there's one thing you should know before choosing to go to Marietta College, know that it's exactly like high school. They take attendance in classes, don't allow laptops, and the number of students (around 1300) was the same size of my high school. It seems quaint and friendly at first, however I can see the repeat of high school- the cliques of athletes, sorority and fraternity members, and the theater students.

Even from the beginning, orientation was a mess- the orientation leaders would show up to the activities drunk, and the students in Leadership knew each other before everyone else arrived, leaving people like me completely excluded.

Other flaws of Marietta College:

  • the food options (only 3 sandwich places, and 1 low quality dining hall)
  • the unequal dispersement of scholarship money (if you're african american, hispanic, from the city, or an athlete, chances are, you'll be going to Marietta for free.)
  • the extreme spectrum of students' capabilities (I have been in classes when I wonder how the student managed to graduate high school.)
  • without a car, you're screwed. nothing other than a gas station and a Tim Horton's is within walking distance.
  • not many club and extracurricular choices
  • There are some pros:

  • a select few faculty members who are extremely beneficial to the school.
  • cute looking campus
  • tightly knit sororities and fraternities
  • they try to put on events to entertain students
