You mentioned the PT program accepts half of its students from the undergraduate pool. Is it difficult to get into the graduate program for PT if your in that pool? |
Major: Physical Therapy/Exercise Science (This Major's Salary over time)
Sacred Heart University's PT Program is good. One of the best in the New England area actually. However you do have to put up with a lot of crap. The problem based learning is frustrating, however it's good for a student to develop good critical thinking skills. Most of my problem lies with the university and the students. The university does not get involved with the community, set in such close proximity to areas like Bridgeport and New Haven, there are plenty of opportunities for the school to be involved but they don't, because they are too concerned about making money. I don't think a school should call themselves a place of higher learning, or an university if it doesn't even make any positive impact in one of the roughest neighborhoods of the country. The second problem I have with the school are the students. The PT program accepts half of its students from the undergraduate pool. These students are by no means dumb, however they are extremely immature. Sacred Heart babies their undergraduate program so much it is basically an overly glorified high school, as a result, the undergraduate students are basically still stuck in high school mode. This is frustrating because the program requires students to work together and it is extremely annoying to try and work with someone when all they think about is when they're going to get wasted or which TV show dominates their lives. The PT program itself is very good, don't get me wrong, I believed that I received a good education, but it is at an expense that I don't think I will do again.
