The University of Bridgeport

I am an American who spent most of my life overseas. Being that I graduated from high school overseas I committed to this school based practically only on thier website. UB seems like a great school with a lovely ocean front campus but everything about this school is deceiving. I stayed there for only one semester and transferred as soon as I had the chance. I would not reccomend this school to anyone of any potential.

To start, the dorms are disgusting. They are small, hot, and filthy. Bodine is literally the ghetto and everyone knows it. During my time there I had to go to the hospital and when one of the nurses asked where I lived I told him Bodine and he laughed and asked if I owned a gun.

Second, the people who attend this school are practically ALL from either abroad or from New York City who claim to be from abroad. Thier "diversity" comes from a huge percentage of Indians (who all live in a seperate dorm and only hang out with themselves) and from people who fill out their applications as being from another country based on where their parents are from. The school is so ghetto and violent. There are constantly fights. During my time there 2 people got arrested in my building, the student academic coordinator who is a senior got arrested for raping a freshman, and a girl threw a fetus in a bathroom garbage can after miscarrying on my floor. The type of people who attend this school are not at all the type of people who get hired by companies, in fact, unles you scare an internship and are able to prove yourself, college is a waste of time because companies do not hire out of this university.

The staff are FAR less than professional. Those who work in admissions and financial aid are nice and will do their best to work with you, but teachers and anyone else who makes decisions, do NOTHING. During my time there I attempted to withdraw from a subject and was told by my advisor that everything was sorted out, only to discover an "F" on my transcript at the end of the year. I am still to this day working to get the off of my transcript and yet the Dean responds to my emails on his droid with two sentence answers. Thankfully the school in New York state that I am currently attending doesnt give much weight to anything UB has to say or do so they completely understood and I love the school I am at now. The teachers at UB barely know what they are talking about, if they show up to class at all. The entire curriculum is a joke and you even receive a grade on your notebook. Yes, that is correct, they look through your notebook to see if you are taking notes. At this level of education, I found that ridiculous. A LOT of classes get cancelled for no apparent reason at all. Simply because the professor could not make it.

I would not recommend this school to ANYONE. All you have to do is look at the return rate. Less than half of the people return after their first year. I expect that number to increase. This school is completely unprofessional and not worth your time OR your money.
