My
Aerospace Engineering degree provided the fundamental understanding of math, physics,
engineering, and general education which I still use every day.
In hindsight I should have tried harder and/or taken the
time to understand the mathematics and have taken the necessary
math classes before trying to take the physics class. I
recommend any high school or college student interested in a
scientific field to keep up with the math all through
their education. The other aspect of my bachelor of science
degree for which I was not prepared was the hands-on
practical part of engineering. My four years in the McDonnell
Douglas Long Beach plant was where I learned the practicalities
of aerospace engineering. I now know that there are internship
opportunities in the industry to help broaden the educational experience.
