I love Assumption College! The students and staff are very friendly, the campus is beautifully landscaped with easily accessible buildings, and the classes are neither too easy nor too hard. There are dozens of extracurricular activities of all sorts in which students are encouraged to participate. The campus Is situated in a very nice (and quiet) residential neighborhood, but students may drive or take one of several available buses to downtown Worcester or other nearby locations. My friends and I have enjoyed outings at restaurants, tried some of Worcester's many clubs, frequented the wide variety of stores at the local shopping area, and seen movies at a two-story theater with plenty of movies showing. I participated in a trip to Worcester's indoor rock climbing gym and others have enjoyed a day of indoor skydiving. There are many colleges in Worcester, which is great because students are able to take classes at any one of the ten or so colleges in the Worcester Consortium as well as attend parties or visit friends at nearby universities. Local businesses cater to the student population with special deals and services. The campus is extremely safe and there is plenty of drinking and partying but not to the point where it is hard to concentrate on school nights. The food is good and there is a variety of choices, with a cafe and a Dunkin' Donuts as well as a dining hall. The school's Catholic heritage can be seen in its acceptance and encouragement of spiritual pursuits but, as a person with Unitarian beliefs I have never felt as if I was being preached to, not even in my Bible class which was very objective and enjoyable. I am a member of the honors program, which offers great opportunities for students including special housing, a lounge and opportunities to work one-on-one with professors in individual research projects. We even got free iPads. I'm typing on mine now, so sorry for any typos. Overall, the school is great and I hope I haven't forgotten to include any details. Oh, I just remembered: the sports programs are very good with many options for different levels of ability. Also, we have fun events such as carnivals and school spirit/family visit days. Performers and artists are showcased regularly. Lots of community service opportunities; I walk to a nearby elementary school a couple of days a week to tutor and help there. Sorry for the poor organization of this entry, but iPads aren't really meant for extensive typing.
