I attended IDTI for Mechanical/Architectural Drafting Certificate course a few years ago. What I learned is that they don?t prepare you for a career afterwards. I found Mr. V to be very rude to students, sarcastic, and overall attitude to be a grumpy old man. While he did ?teach? and I use that term loosely, his personality and dislike towards students really showed. Mr. D was somewhat better. You just cannot hear him at all. He has to use speakers because his voice has a very low pitch to it. He was a better teacher then Mr. V, but to understand him was nearly impossible and I felt like I was missing out on material?

I was enrolled there for 15 months. After completing the course, they did manage to find me work. Problem was, what I got wasn?t to my liking. The jobs were low end pay, very stressful, and temporary jobs. I looked for jobs myself, but according to a major Architectural firm called Spectorgroup, I would need a 4 year degree.

The only plus about this school was the admin. staff. They were very nice people, professional, which is a shame because they hired such bad teachers and really do need better curriculum.

They only taught AutoCAD and no other software like Revit, or AutoCAD Architecture. Which is used more widely in the industry.

My suggestion to someone would be to go to a Community school like Suffolk Community if you want to enter this field. Then proceed with a BA after. This is one field you need a BA.
