At first I didn't like UM but after toughing it out for a semester I now love it. Yes, its true, a lot of students here are from wealthy families and came to Miami to dick around for 4 years, but that can be said about any private university. I've met a lot of great people so don't let the lame ones throw you off too much. There are a lotttt of kids from the east coast but you get used to different people. There are a lot of kids from outside the USA too, and I think it adds personality to the campus. The academics so far are challenging. Obviously it differs a lot for each major, but as an International Studies major, I'm challenged in class and homework. Some of the professors I've found to be slightly arrogant but their professors, of course they are. The campus is beautiful and although some parts need to be fixed, walking around makes you appreciate how lucky you are to attend UM. The school spirit and campus extra extracurriculars are great and Miami is also lucky to have a great Greek system, even though non Greeks aren't really interested, so its a win win.

Overall, I'm very proud to be a cane!!!
