I applied to TLU with the intention of going to a private university. I expected a superior education, and preparedness for graduate school. TLU does not offer graduate programs, so you must go elsewhere for graduate school. Anyway, I truly thought I was going to be at a place where everyone knew each other, and treated each other with respect. Oh, how I was wrong.

The rules are barbaric, to say the least. My hall-mate and I were threatened with a write-up if we did not help take down old Halloween decorations lining the hallway. Mind you, this was late at night during on a weeknight when we had an early class in the morning. Ironically, no one else in the hall was tracked down due to they were practicing for the "Bulldog Revue" for Parents' Weekend.

We were all treated like children, not as adults. We had progress reports! We had to write "Thank You" notes to our scholarship/grant providers. The staff/faculty are generally rude, and condescending. No one really knows what the heck they are doing. There were few of those who did, but not enough for me to stay.

It felt like a 30 grand daycare/high school. It truly felt like high school again with all the cliques. I was bullied by a few mean girls, and mean boys too. The school could care less about the disabled. There was this one young lady with a mental disability, and she was basically to be treated as if she were able. She could not function as a "normal" person, but since the school had to obey the parents' wishes. The poor girl needed help. I felt sorry for her, but hands were tied, and nothing could be done about it.

Most of the professors were of limited intelligence. Very few knew how to function, let alone teach a class properly. My advisor was of no help, even when I had an appointment to see her. She was always busy. She was highly rude too. Some of my professors were nice, but I could tell some were at the age of retirement. However, I understand them wanting to keep their job, but I sure wasn't learning anything.

It was hard to get an honest answer about anything over there. Tutoring sucked too. The campus wasn't that safe. Any stranger could come on campus. There would be reports of young women being followed by strange men. There were also dorm thefts too. Someone stole money from me! Then again, I suspect that was an inside job. I was lucky my credit card wasn't stolen.

I don't feel I learned anything, but this lesson: Don't judge a book by it's cover. Sure, it may look ideal, but ask around first. Ask the students first hand. They'll usually tell you that they hate it there. Some have no choice, but to stay. However, I left after a semester. What a waste of money, what a waste of time. TLU…**** you!
