First thing's first… if your approach to college is just partying, drinking, and getting high, then look no further. WMU is an OK university. I'd say it's barely averge- to below average. If you are a student who is extremely focused on school work and your education, then I'd suggest alternatives… or at least dont live on campus. The smell of weed by the Valleys will not be something pleasent to fall asleep with, or the loud drunks outside. I'd say the majority of the students' priority is partying, and the educational value sort of mirrors that. I don't feel that I have really learned much, and that is a bit frightening considering I came to WMU for the aviation program. The aviation program is OK. If you're a student who wants to pursue an aviation career, WMU College of Aviation has the resources. However, their structure DOES NOT suit every type of student. Basically, if you're loaded with cash you won't have a problem. If you know aviation like the back of your hand, and you've had prior flying experience, you won't have a problem. The college however has no efficient method of student spending, and the attitude I'v gotten is In other words, students DO NOT come first… you're on your own if things don't work out. They know that it will cost you WAY more than they charge, but they don't want to scare away any potential customers… after all it's much like a business. Also, the connection between the actual university and the college is dissapointing, and the transportation to the Battle Creek facility is less than convenient. In conclusion, It's not a horrible place. There are excellent professors who know their stuff… but again, if value is a big thing to you… consider other universities.
