Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time)
I was suprised and deeply saddened to discover out that the Performing Arts Department never looked at my portfolio. I have been taking classes with people that know little or nothing about performing arts other than Glee and Lady Gaga.Voice for Performance is the worst class there. It's really just a yoga (Yes, really!). The teacher knows nothing about the subject and just gave out reading assignments copied and pasted from the internet and had us write/reflect about them as well as write reviews on school plays. We never worked on any dialects or voice styles, we just layed on the floor, touched ourselves, and moaned for 8 weeks. 4 years of repertory theater and I was reduced to having to taking a $10,000 yoga class! The productions are rather cheap looking, despite SCADs massive profit margin, the talent (or lack of) on display is so amature and phony that it is depressing. My other classes were all academics which were stunningly easy and seemed more like middle school level. Most of the students in Performing arts, particularly the females, are some of the most close minded, snotty, arrogant, people I've ever met. Nothing against gays, but most of the ones in theater at SCAD act like little girls that dream about being stars. I know many gay "men", but all the SCAD "twinkies" really bring down the talent level.I consider myself bright, but sometimes naive. I have been very foolish to attend this college and have since left to attend an actual conservatory in Pennsylvania. It took me a couple of tries, because they ACTUALLY watched my auditions.BTW: I found out they never viewed my audition when I saw the envelope in my admissions folder unopened. SCAD is a very dishonest and evil place.
