Typical CUNY experience: Admissions is a nightmare. They'll lose, misplace or otherwise cause to disappear your paperwork and info. You may be accepted and then shelved an extra semester until you can start classes. They will not bother to accept 85% of your credits, even if they are from another CUNY. Ask me how I know this.

Facilities are a haphazard mix of new and ancient. Even the new buildings are spottily maintained. Cafeteria is a dungeon that needs a paint job. Like NYC, the school is segregated as hell- Students are mildly more friendly than at other CUNYs, but still idiotic, close-minded and clannish in the main though. No student life to speak of. Commuter school all the way. Professors are either clueless adjuncts with no pedagogical skill or arrogant middle-aged burnouts going through the motions. Educational quality is low overall in liberal arts, not much better in sciences.I tried to make the most of it, but it just…sucks. Sorry.
