Mason gets a rough knock for its social life because in the past it really hasn't had one. That being said, it has truly started to put an effort towards building one up in recent months. The Greek life system has expanded tremendously, the campus offers free rides to all the local hotspots, and (a more recent development this year) the university is starting to come to life at night. I will admit, there is room for improvement as campus is still fairly quiet on some weekends, but its improving quite quickly over time.
