First off let me layout the several things that need to be discussed if anyone ANYONE out there is planning on attending Keene State College (the middle of nowhere)

I. Academics

Keene State as a student body hardly cares about homework or doing very well for themselves in their lifetime. There are no worries when it comes to homework being given to students, the biggest stress is who's getting the weekend's worth of alcohol for everyone or which frat house is throwing a party this weekend? The academics are poor and students are hardly challenged. You will not gain anything from this college accept a better tolerance for alcohol.

II. Surrounding town

Keene is a college town. It is not a city. It is in a very rural section of New Hampshire. You have two bars in the whole town itself on main street, the only night walk you can stroll down when you exit your dorm if its not -30 degrees outside. Keene does have lots of shops and restaurants. You will find a shopping joint where theres olive garden, longhorn, Michaels, Home Depot etc. on your way back to the middle of nowhere upon exiting little town of Keene. There is however practically nothing to do in this town, there are no clubs, just churches and banks.

III. Diversity

There is absolutely no diversity in Keene, New Hampshire. The majority of students are predominantly white. There are a few black males and females who hang out with each other but don't socialize with the whites. You will come across two or three asians. Again, you are going to be in New Hampshire. You will not find diversity in such a cold and dull state that it is.

IV. Housing

Housing is a pain in the asshole. Let me tell you that. If you come to Keene expecting housing as a transfer student, you're shit out of luck. Housing is available to less than 50% of the student body. Only about 2800 students get housing. And the Res Life plays the lottery system game with everyone where you get a lottery number. #1 being you, you are given the first choice in housing at the Housing selection event they hold every year which is a crazy nutty process where people lose friends because everyone's a cut throat.

TO ALL FRESHMEN: Randall, Holloway, Fiske, Carle and Monadnock are all 1st year dorms. Holloway and Randall are all triples and you will not enjoy this, especially girls. It is a horrible process in which people fight with one another and two of the three roommates click and oust the third one. My freshmen year, there was always a problem in every triple on our floor. Not one room had not had a problem. Try to get a double your first year if you can, if not your fucked.

V. Glorified version of high school

Keene as stated above, is a glorified version of high school. No joke. You will see drama run around campus all day. People getting into fights and BF/GF break ups because one of them slept with someone by accident but didnt mean to because they were drunk, using that as an excuse. Girls dress up in Northface jackets and ugg boots the whole winter and have long dark hair with orange ugly ass tan and big noses and also have snotty looks on their faces. You will not like this trust me, the girls around here are not pretty whatsoever. I came to Keene thinking I was escaping high school bullshit, but there was plenty of people that loved to start it on our floor which made people move out. Fuck Keene.

VI. Winter

Do not expect to come to Keene and find the same New England weather that you experience in Massachusetts or Connecticut. The weather here in New Hampshire is 10x worse. You will notice a 10 degree difference between CT and NH if youre coming back up or going back down. It is absolutely horrible. The only warm months you will find here is in September and the very last two weeks of April to May before finals. It gets to be below 20 for almost the whole year and you will get a shit ton more snow than CT or Mass get.

VII. Nothing to do

There is nothing at this college to do. Yeah you can participate in plenty of clubs and organizations and find things to do, but its practically nothing. The student center tries to sponsor activities for students on the weekends, but they dont bother because everyone is out drinking on the cold negative 20 below zero nights in January and February. I recommend bringing a car here so you can drive to different towns like Manchester or Concord and go shopping in the malls or go clubbing, but I wouldnt even bother bringing a car since you have to walk and get it in the Winchester Parking lot about a mile away(depending on where you live) which is near Wal Mart.

That all being said…I recommend any prospective student to not come to Dull and Horrible Keene, New Hampshire unless you want to get trashed every weekend and feel horrible the next morning and count down the minutes to Thursday night with your friends. I warn very talented and intelligent individuals who want to come here to reconsider their choices. Keene State College is nothing but trouble, don't come here. With that, I'm glad I'm not returning in the fall and going someplace nicer.
