GVSU has been an excellent place for me to grow and learn. I was accepted into "better" schools, such as UofM and State, but I chose GV because smaller classes AND the "big university" feel were both important to me. I would not take back my decision. My professors are great for the most part, and they're always available to help. Most offer both scheduled office hours and appointments, so there's always a way to seek help. There is also the "study buddy" program and other resources, such as MS^3 and the Math Lab, and structured learning classes. The campus is nice, everything is clean and the landscaping is well-manicured. My biggest piece of advice to those complaining about the social life is to get involved with Greek life and other RSOs. Greek life here IS different than other schools and it's very fun and rewarding to be involved with and provides many resume boosters, such as volunteer work and leadership experience. My only complaint is that finding RSOs (outside of Greek letter organizations) that are very active can be a daunting task, but you will find some you'll love being involved with if you put in any effort. Otherwise, if Allendale's small size is your problem, get on the bus and go to Grand Rapids. It runs late so you can go out and have a way back.
