CCAD expects effort, and you get out of your education what you put in. I have seen those who put in little effort at CCAD and those are the people that are unhappy, they dont feel challenged, they dont like the classes, they feel like they dont have the option to be creative. But the real world as a professional artist DOES NOT WORK LIKE THIS. As a professional artist, you are expected to be creative with an assignment or project for your job, for a client and about 80% of the time its not going to be something you are going to enjoy. As an artist, CCAD teaches that you learn to not only make your client happy but about finding your own style and touch to make things your own and to understand creative problems like this. CCAD is a school that prepares you for life. It is expected that you put in 1000% effort and once you have done that, the teacher tells you to do it again. It is easy to sit in a CCAD classroom and see those that will be successful. They're the ones who are constantly asking teachers questions, staying after class, talking to their classmates, to make themselves better artists. And that is the reality of the CCAD classroom. Its somewhere where you can ask for help if you need it, and improve your craft. As with any institution there is its fair share of faults, but as does anywhere, none of these though have i felt to inhibit my abilities to learn. On completing my second year at CCAD, the amount of growth i can see in my work and myself is still shocking to me. As for extra curricular activities on campus, there are many clubs and on campus student activities, events that are often attended by the active students. These may not be typical football teams, instead its sketchbook club, and GSSA (Gay Straight Student Alliance) but these are the kinds of clubs that work for our campus. CCAD offers the opportunity for anyone to create a club or group on campus.
