Date: May 22 2011 Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time) I went here in 2006 and was here through "autumn" and fall semester. Let me just preface this by saying that I had to go to at least 3 different seminars during that time that talked about drinking, safety, assault, when to report, etc.Well, guess what happened folks? I was assaulted in Iota. This person had a list of reports from other students, as well as one professor who later moved to a bigger university. They did nothing. Guess who I found on the Florida Sexual Predator website less than one year later? Great job, student affairs, I spent my first semester of college trying to stick up for myself, spent thousands in tuition, and not only did my credits not transfer, but I ended up with a whole lot of damage. There is no excuse for this.I was also promised that, since I have dyslexia, that the
disability specialist
would help me. What a joke. He had no resources, was rude to me and my father who tried to help me. He thought he was a therapist. I went to another university in Fort Myers who actually had a disability specialist who did her job—provide accomodation. I also want to point out that the only redeeming qualities that this school has is that it is a nice campus, and it has amazing professors. But this is not a place where you can expect to grow. I transferred to FGCU and this was the best decision I ever made. I was required to spend at least 1500 hours in the field I was in in order to graduate—I ended my college education 100 steps ahead of everyone else in my class! I would not have gotten this at Eckerd. Instead, I graduated from FGCU as an adult. I do not see people from Eckerd graduating as adults. They have no preparation for the real world at all whatsoever. If you want to party and live in a spoiled fairy-tale world, go to Eckerd. If you want to truly succeed outside of Marine Biology and grow professionally, then this is not the place for you.
