I love my experience at Wellesley thus far. I think my department is excellent. All professors in the psychology department have been nothing but helpful and friendly. In addition, there are research opportunities for students (during the school year or summer).

Wellesley is definitely not for everyone. I was a hardworking high school student, but in high school I never had to pull all-nighters or shut myself from the world (giving up going out with friends, etc) in order to study for exams and to write papers the way I do at Wellesley. At Wellesley you will have to do this most of the time if you want to do well. I find Wellesley to be very competitive, but since my friends are supportive of each other I am motivated to succeed. And I am doing better and better every semester.

Also, I have found that unlike my high school friends attending other colleges, Wellesley gives you busywork all the time. For example, I have never had a class with only a midterm and an exam. In many of my classes I have many types of assignments (quizzes, papers, exams, 2 midterms, responses, etc). I even had a language class that met 5 times a week and gave quizzes 3 or 4 times a week (Japanese). So you won?t be able to scrape by going to class without doing readings or assignments well. If you don?t have a good work ethic when you arrive at Wellesley you will develop one right away.

The campus is really beautiful and the ville right outside the college is very beautiful too. If you do not have time to go outside of Wellesley you can do some shopping there or go to starbucks or whatever. We also have a pretty good transportation system to go to Boston and other schools (MIT, Olin).
