Bard College Simon's Rock

There are two primary reasons a person would leave high school early to go to Simon's Rock. First, they are seeking greater academic stimulation. Second, they are social misfits in high school. Simon's Rock caters to these people. Don't come here for sports, wild parties, a vibrant social & dating scene, or simply to be free of your parents.

I would first like to address the negative reviews. These disparages aren?t fueled by dissatisfaction with the academics of the school, which is what this school is entirely about; they are fueled by not being able to just plain deal with all the shit that goes on here. The food is absolutely terrible. There are many people here I cannot stand. I have a small group of friends, despite having many friends in high school. There is hardly anything apart from homework to do on campus, and the town is boring.

It?s strange. Superficially, there is nothing going for this school. Every morning I would wake up, feel as if I was about to pass out on my way to the bathroom after another long night of homework and studying, and I?d hate my life. But there were always the moments when I would realize that I this school has given me such a great academic experience, such a great set of professors almost all whom I adore and admire (they were always helpful, accessible, and brilliant), and a such a wonderful and interesting set of friends.

You will undoubtedly enjoy this place if you?re looking for academic enrichment above all else. I must note, despite this being an early college, many people don?t deserve to be here. There are people from all across the intellectual spectrum here.
