Major: Preparatory (This Major's Salary over time)
I am currently finishing up the prerequisites for my nursing degree at Wake Tech, from which I hope to transfer this Spring. I am not biased one way or the other; not bitter or in love with the school either way. I will just give you a point blank review about my experience with this college. The nursing school is very, very competitive. Usually people don't get in until their second attempt at getting into the college. That just means someone has to take a semester off or have their classes planned out so the extra semester is used. Just be ready for that if an associates in nursing from WTCC is what you want. Also, the staff at the health sciences campus bothered me a bit. Because the nursing school is so competitive, the staff of the health sciences campus do not try as hard to help you, honestly. In the nursing program, it is EXTREMELY hard! But it just depends if that is what you really want to do. You'll have to work REALLY hard for it.Disregarding the nursing department, though, I really like the general classes and main campus. The reason why I chose WTCC is why I still like it (besides the price). The professors of WTCC are almost all very interested in what they teach, very approachable, very respectful, and want the students to do well. The ILC tutors are a real help for those who study hard! The staff seems to go out of their way to be professional and helpful. (Keep in mind that every place has its exceptions. I did have a few teachers that hurt my grade. I just learned to use "rate my professor" for all my classes! lol) Overall, I felt like my goals were respected here. So, in all, WTCC is made for students who have goals, whether it's getting your GED, taking transfer classes, or a working parent trying to get an associates degree for a low cost while living at home. The campus does not really have a social life. There are clubs and fun events here and there, and the social aspect of the college is getting bigger and more diverse. However, WTCC is not a place where people stay. It is a fast track toward a degree or a place to get transfer courses. If you go here, don't leave your out-of-college social life. :) Just so you know.
