Western Carolina University is dollar for dollar one of the best universities in the state. I am a rising senior and never have had a TA. I have had some Professors that i personally didn't enjoy, but never because they were qualified for the job. I just didn't mesh with their teaching style's. As far as the campus goes it is the most beautiful I have seen in the state. On the weekends there is always a house party or large social event going on if your into that sort of thing (I definitely am!). However it isn't a full blown "party" school if you prefer a more calm and relaxed atmosphere. The school is in the heart of the mountains so after you spend Friday night out partying or relaxing with your friend's, you can go hiking and enjoy of of the many incredible trails and outdoor experiences Western has to offer. There is one major drawback however and that is there is absolutely no college town and Cullowhee is dry :(. So if you need a big town atmosphere or enjoy the bar/club scene then do not come to school here. The bars to school 10/15 minuet drive from campus. For the most part they are all terrible and the town/school offers no public transportation to get to them, so if you want to go you have to drive. Besides that though Western is the perfect place for a quality education.
