Bozeman is beautiful and Montana State offers exactly what it claims to offer. It's a great education, in a beautiful place, for a fair price. Like any university system, it has the potential to overwhelm you or catch you off guard. Wherever you go to school, go in knowing the degree requirements, both for your major specifically and general undergrad courses. Every school has a core program- make it work for you or at least with you! It would be easy to graduate from MSU in three years with certain majors if you planned your program well.

The landscape in Bozeman is stunning. If you appreciate clean air, beautiful surroundings, and security, you will be comfortable and happy in Bozeman. There are trails running through the city and easily accessible from campus. It does get cold, but it's more than bearable!

If you need the buzz of a city, this place is not for you. Montana can feel pretty far off from the more populated states east and west of it. The city of Bozeman has less than 50,000 people. It's not too small, it's just different if it's not what you are used to.

If you're not quite sure what you want to do, this place is just about perfect for you. There is just enough diversity in the degree programs for you to choose from and you will surely wind up with an undergrad degree to send you off in the right direction.

Don't go into any university with the idea that it is the only university for you. Two months or two years in you might realise another school or program would suit you better. Spend your time and money wisely, follow a degree program you are interested in or that will afford you the opportunity to do whatever you want to do. If you get the chance, take summer courses at other universities to explore subjects your school might not have.

The people at MSU are friendly and the atmosphere on campus is very relaxed. There is an interesting spectrum from ultra conservative to ultra liberal, anyone would feel comfortable here. There is no social norm on campus apart from friendliness. It is easy to walk from one end of campus to the other for classes. Transportation isn't much of an issue. There is a free bus system if you'd like it, but most students walk or ride a bike everywhere, including around the city of Bozeman.

Everything might not be fantastic with your university experience but if you're looking to enjoy getting a degree, you're willing to put in some effort to pursue your ambitions, and you'd like a great view of the mountains, Montana State University might be your best option.
