Major: Perfomance Arts (This Major's Salary over time)
I've gone to OU for a couple years now, and from a lot of the other reviews that have been posted, I must be going to OU in another dimension or something because I have not had any of the same issues. Perhaps it has to do with what major you have. I do not have any reason to communicate with the faculty or administration, so I can't say that previous reviews are false. I have found all the faculty that I have worked with to be nice, knowledgeable and helpful when approached. I've been challenged in most of my classes, and though my major still needs a lot of work, I have still been a part of more than a few classes that challenged me and were actually fun to go to. The social scene can seem dead to some, but even during the middle of the week I have been able to find something fun to do on campus or off. Living in the city has been a great experience for me, and they just put in a new shopping center within walking distance of campus, which has made it easier to live in the dorms. The food has been terrible at the cafeteria since anyone can remember. There are good days, but there are a lot of terrible days, and days where things are breaking, or food is cooked poorly. So that's pretty awful. There are a lot of good people who are willing to help at OU- I've never had a problem with the financial aid office, business office, admissions, or any of the faculty or staff. Maybe that's just me, but I love going to Oglethorpe, even with it's downsides. So: pros- beautiful campus, intelligent and helpful professors, sometimes challenging classwork, study abroad opportunities, I've made some really good friends(not guaranteed), small campus community, some good facilities. Cons- some bad facilities, poor food quality, some professors are hard to get a hold of, some classes are busy work, some snooty people, freshman dorms are old.
