Date: Jul 14 2011
Major: Physical Therapy/Exercise Science (This Major's Salary over time)
I graduated in 2010 with an Associate's Degree in General Coursework. I've been accepted to P.S.U. but haven't actually attended because I wasn't able to find work with the degree I attained. Now, I will say that on a whole the professors (and I mean PROFESSORS, not Adjuncts)were great and knowledgeable. The Adjunct professors were hit or miss as far as both knowledge and availability. I am resigning for the PTA program for Fall 2012 but am skiddish now because the program is done in conjunction with Broward Community College (take a look at their rating on the site…scary) but to find another PTA program in SW FL is impossible and I don't have the funds to move myself and my family to the other coast of Florida.

I would say that for all their medical programs the Nursing and PTA programs are probably the hardest to get into simply because their are so few seats and competition is very high but competition for say an Education major would have no problem or an Engineering major would probably be a cake walk.

The aesthetics of the campus are fantastic. There are beautiful landscaped lawns and gardens everywhere so it's very pleasing to the eye..but let's be honest here..no one is going to school to look at pretty lawns, we want a good education.

The students are friendly enough for the semester you will be with them. I myself have made no lasting friendships at this college but one commentator stated that this was a school to "get your degree and get out in the real world", or something to that effect, which is very true. If you want the "friendships-that-last-forever" kind of school go to FGCU or another major university because you really will not find it here unless you go here after high school graduation with a bunch of your high school friends.

None of the classes that I took really were very difficult (except for Physics) and the class I enjoyed the most (just for his range of knowledge within the subject) was my History Professor, Dr. Mark Herman. He has a wonderful amount of knowledge in the area of his doctorate and is most kind to not only give you his time but to also try to help if you are falling behind (I didn't fall behind myself but I saw a few of my classmates start to and he was quick to be of assistance if they asked).

I am not thrilled about going back to Edison only because I live in the Charlotte County area which is about an hour away from the school and the major that I am seeking is only offered at the Lee Campus. If this were to be reviewed by any of the major faculties at Edison State College I would suggest to them that they seriously look into branching the PTA program out to other campuses..perhaps they would get more students if the students who live in Henry or Collier Counties knew they would be able to get training for the PTA program in their own county.
