I was born and raised in Upstate New York, and was fairly skilled with my academics to the point where I thought going to a community college was a waste of my potential. However, I got a scholarship to JCC where my first year was free and so with strong parental advisement I decided to give it a try. I've always been more science/math oriented so I decided to take Anatomy and Physiology my first and second semesters. It was a huge slap in the face, in high school I was smart enough to not have to study for hours in order to pass my exams and that was NOT the case with this class. I had to study for days on end just to get a B on a test and even though I hated it I'm so glad I took it because I feel I learned more than I would if the class had been easier.

Overall my teachers are awesome, they are more than willing to help you at office hours and most of them are hilarious although you do have to get used to their humor. All of my math and science courses I feel have had real applicable knowledge, but I can't be a hundred-percent sure until I'm out in the workfield. I haven't taken too many liberal arts courses so I can't make an informed review about the teachers, but if you ask around you can easily find out which teachers are good and which are bad. Once you find the teacher you want you can sign up for their course right online as long as the class isn't full or it doesn't interfere with your other classes, and as long as you know how to get on the internet it should be a walk in the park for you.
My classmates are all pretty cool and funny, and there is a bit of healthy competition but if you need help (which in physics you do) then they'll be glad to help if they can.

I'm not too involved with clubs but JCC does have quite a few, and there are a few concerts/comedy shows/etc that are performed on campus. The tutoring services are in my opinion great here, but that also depends on your tutor (I have yet to have a bad one).
Now for some criticism, there is almost nothing to do in Watertown besides go skiing/snowboarding and paying ten dollars to see a movie. Watertown gets quite a bit of snow in the winter and is quite dreary, and the closest large city is Syracuse which is a little more than an hour away. The campus can be pretty sometimes but in the winter it's mostly covered in snow and slush. There are a few trails to go running, and in fact I did go running on one the other day it was nice for about two minutes until I hit the path by the sewage/garbage treatment plant then the stench drove me gaging to the river nearby. That river is called the Black River and it would be unadvisable to go swimming in not only because of the number of rapids but also because it may or may not be polluted.
If you're going to a college based on it's looks JCC is not for you, but if you wanted a cheap school that will give you an awesome education then JCC is the place to go.
