So, would you suggest I go to some other school for social work other than Simmons, and why? |
Major: Social Work (This Major's Salary over time)
Currently an MSW student. I matriculated to Simmons based largely on reputation for clinical social work; having been here for more than a year, I can honestly say that I have no idea how Simmons acquired this reputation. I have been thoroughly underwhelmed. Professors routinely phone it in, and the required classes are an expensive joke. I have earned straight A's so far, but have learned next to nothing. I came to graduate school after much thought with the expectation that I would learn the skills to be successful in a difficult field. Unfortunately, it has been a massive waste of time and money so far. While Simmons talks a good game in the info session, they show little commitment to actual teaching and learning. Simmons appears to be a sad, cynical exercise in filling seats to make the college money. If I could transfer to Salem State without screwing myself over, I absolutely would. I realize that I am devalueing my own degree by writing a negative review, but this opinion seems widely held by students and someone needs to be honest about it. Please think hard about going here; so far I have substantial debt and little to show for it.
