My
advisor, Carrie Coe, told me the coursework for the Graphic
Design program was going to be quite difficult and time
consuming. Well, she definitely got one of those right. They
give you a lot of time consuming work - BUSY WORK! and don't allow gifted art minds to think outside
of the box. One major downfall of the ASU Herberger
program is they demand you have a 3.8GPA by the
time you finish your freshman semester. If you don't have
a 3.8 you are forced to choose another major. WHO THE HELL HAS TIME OR MONEY TO TAKE 1 MORE YEAR OF COURSES! Of course, you can transfer credits in
but you still have to take the full four years
to complete a Graphic Design major. Oh, and the classes
start 1x a year, there is no Spring enrollment for
Graphic Design courses. The Graphic Design program is in it's
infancy stage and most of the kids I'll be graduating
with, myself included, will end up with $60k worth of
debt while we work to pay it off with odd
jobs.
