When one first visits Adrian College as a senior in high school, looking for a small college experience, they are easily persuaded by the first impression they experience. Adrian College is nothing but ascetics, the lawns are freshly cut and the food is well catered. Each recruit is dumbfounded by what they see and experience during their first few visits to campus. However, soon after attending they will understand what they are paying the extremely high tuition for. If I had the choice to attend another college I would undoubtably transfer.

Unfortunately I cannot, another thing the school is very good at other than recruitment is keeping students at the school. They do this by designing the classes in a way so that any classes above the 200 credit level will not transfer anywhere… and I mean anywhere. While the education is average for a liberal arts school it seems that one would be better off attending an institution that has more to offer for a few grand less in tuition. Always keep in mind that the institution like most small schools needs and wants your money above all else in order to survive.

Campus social life can seem daunting at first, but with such a small campus it is easy to make friends and acquaintances. As long as you are involved in some type of large group, club, or organization you are going to make a number of new friends. If you are playing a sport you will most likely become very close to your team and spend most of your time with teammates. If you do not play a sport it will be tough to meet people unless you get involved in something other than classes. Greek life is a great way to get broaden your horizons and get involved on campus. All of the Fraternities and Sororities have something different to offer and you will find yourself a tight group of friends in whichever one you choose.

Weekend social life on campus consists of mostly drinking. This becomes a monotonous pattern after a few semesters. Be careful whose apartment or house you wander into your first fews weekends if you do not know people who live there. Hockey and football players make a majority of the males on campus and are not held to the same academic standards as those who do not play sports. However, not to worry Ann Arbor and East lansing are not all to far away and visiting your friends at larger universities is a great way to get away from campus for a real college social experience. Something that Adrian College will never get you.

Living on campus is not a choice, your a required to live on campus for four years. Although with recent overcrowding the opportunity to live off campus is much higher than in previous years. Living on campus is not the Ritz, dingy would describe a majority of the residences on campus. The school is making efforts to remodel and improve many of the halls and houses but progress has been slow.

Freshmen beware! Unlike some colleges and universities you must go to almost every class. You will be surprised by the large number of freshmen who are no longer still going to Adrian with you after christmas break due to their lack of effort during their first fall semester. Academics are not too overwhelming for the average student until one starts to take 300-400 level classes, then the actual college work begins. Make sure to ask upperclassmen who a good advisor is for your major so that you can stay on track for graduation in a timely four years. Most class sizes are ideal for the student professor interaction that most students are looking for at a small private college. A majority of the faculty have the experience and commitment to give you a quality college education if you are willing to put forth the effort.

Adrian itself actually has many beautiful parks and other places to see and experience, but campus is disconnected and makes town an inconvenient drive away.

I am not involved with athletics so do not ask me about them.

The food is sketchy at best so get creative!

Its better than Albion!
