Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a Speech Language Pathology major which is the 5 year program and I love Marywood. Its a small town feel with a city a mile down the road. It's kind of like having the best of both worlds. Its really a great school to attend once you have friends. The first day I was worried I wouldn't meet anyone I liked but after a week I had a ton of friends.Education- Defiantly a quality education. I am already learning so much! In most colleges the first two years are basically useless to your major but at Marywood the first class I walked into was Phonetics and that has a lot to do with my major! It was fun trying to learn basically a new language with a small group of people. Our professor would laugh at us and overall was a lot of fun to work with. Professors have a lot of office hours and are willing to stay later just to help you out. The small class sizes really helped because the professors got to know you personally and would know your name and know what you were having trouble with. You weren't just another number among thousands of students. They wanted you to do good!Dorms- I loved my dorm room. Out of all 12 colleges I looked at, Marywood by far had the biggest and nicest dorms. Loughran hall is so nice. The rooms are big, the beds are comfy, there is space, it has heat and AC that you control (which most colleges don't) Big closet space and your own bathroom to share with only 3 other people. (so much better then a communal bathroom. gross)Your sink was in your room which made getting ready in the morning easy and the windows are big in the rooms so its really bright.Social Life- It's true that Marywood is a dry campus but as for drinking in the dorms, as long as you are quiet and you don't have a freak RA who goes around listening to everyones doors(some weird RA's do that!) you can get away with it. My friend had a Fake ID and used to buy every alcohol and we would either pre-game in the dorms and leave trashed or just drink together in someones quad and play beer pong. It was great. If there was a sports house having a party we would go to it and drink. They were really fun. We would go to the University of Scranton sometimes and drink and houses there. (there's always party's there)We went to the club a lot. There's awesome restaurants to go out to eat at. There's a lot to do. You just have to find out about it.Food- The food is buffet style. I really liked it. Always something different to choose from every night. They also had a wrap/sandwich station that I ate at a lot. Lots of desserts. Sooo good!I don't know what else to write. A lot of the buildings are being renovated so the whole campus is nice. Its really well maintained. The library is old but there making renovations soon.
