Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
I found Calvin to be extremely ethnocentric, particularly the student body, which is overwhelmingly comprised of graduates of Christian high schools in the Grand Rapids area. To them, Calvin is merely a continuation of high school and high school relationships. There is a very strong push, especially for females, to find a spouse prior to graduation - "the freshmen frenzy" and "the senior scramble" . Calvin represents a very closed and conservative culture. As a graduate of a public high school and being of English heritage, I felt socially marginalized by the Calvin student body. I also found the vast majority of Calvin students to be profoundly immature and enmeshed with their parents. Do not let anyone kid you, Calvin students consume a lot of alcohol at off-campus house parties and at downtown bars.
