Florida Gulf Coast University is located in Ft. Myers, not Tampa as you mentioned. The remainder of your comments, including Plant Hall describes the University of Tampa, not Florida Gulf Coast University. |
Moron, obviously they know nothing about what they are writing on. You cannot tell me that you went to this school when you don't even know where it is!! |
You placed your review under the wrong school! |
Please remove this. It is the wrong school and does not need to bring the score down |

Alright, so I read all of these reviews before choosing to go to this university. And, I thought, Big mistake. The campus is beautiful. Most of the buildings are new. It's centered around an amazing hotel that was built in the 1800s and now serves as the main building. While the first floor of Plant Hall looks like a royal palace, the top three floors look like a high school that hasn't been renovated since the 40s. It's disgusting and immensely disappointing. The faculty were all friendly, in my experience. And they all have doctorates in their field. But I didn't have a single good teacher. I went to a community college for a year before going to this school (for another year), and I can honestly say that every single prof at the community college was better than any UT prof I had.The students are mostly northeastern kids who want to go to college in Florida. In the beginning of the year, everyone's immensely friendly, but within a few months they split off into their "cliques" and show their true colors of arrogance and closedmindedness. The resulting drama literally rivals Jersey Shore. It's disgusting. The student body's entertainment primarily consists of dressing like douchebags, spraying a ridiculous amount of cologne, smoking weed and unbridled drinking. In a nutshell, it's a wannabe party school. I say "wannabe" because it's located in Tampa. There's a few clubs that might be enticing early on but after awhile you realize that there's absolutely nothing to do in this friggin town. Downtown Tampa is virtually juts a business district and that's all. There's no nightlife (or any "life") whatsoever, save for maybe two or three hotspots that get real old real fast. Seriously, Tampa kind of sucks. The on-campus entertainment is nonexistent. The first two weeks are full of student activities. Then they just… stop. There's literally nothing to do on campus either! So if you're not into clubbing or drinking heavily for no reason whatsoever, you should expect to spend your time watching TV, playing video games, or browsing the internet.Overall, a terrible experience. I left after a year. I won't tell you to stay away, but I seriously encourage anyone who's thinking about coming here and reading the negative reviews not to discount them. It's a mistake I made and regret. You may be thinking that they exaggerate, but they don't. It's way too much money to go to this university for a bad experience.
