I am an Inter-Cultural Studies major and Youth Ministries minor, and am a Junior this year at Liberty…and I have to say, for all of the complaints that people have about LU and the things that are bad here, I really just don't see it. I would say that a good majority… maybe 80% or so, of the students who go to LU are selfish and want to be nit-picky if the University doesn't see things exactly as they see it or do things exactly as they would do it. Our student body seriously needs to grow up. The rules are not bad AT ALL… they're not even remotely strict. If you think that having a curfew or a "dress code" (seriously, just wear the collared shirt. you look classier in it anyway), or having to go to convocation three times a week is too hard for you, then maybe you need to lower your expectations from "everyone should just do everything that I want" to something that actually corresponds with reality. Convo is awesome, and when I am away on breaks I miss worshiping with thousands of other Christians three times a week. AND I'M A COMMUTER. I'm supposed to be the guy that hates convo or that moved off just to break rules. Seriously, they aren't that bad. There's rules that you have to abide by… such is life.

Beyond the things that people would normally complain about, the profs here are spectacular! I have had numerous life altering classes already with profs who have become my mentors and spiritual heroes. The students, beyond complaining about most anything they can find, are still generally friendly and helpful. Social life is usually pretty good, although since the student body is literally from everywhere (i.e. I'm from Michigan), students tend to follow what is popular elsewhere instead of being on the cutting edge of creating what's popular. But other than that, the students really are genuine people, who for the most part are trying to be genuine Christians. There are some who aren't, many who are in the middle when it comes to actually living out their beliefs, and then some at the top who are truly living out the mind of Christ every day.

And that's the last thing to know about Liberty. This is a Christian University. Don't come here and expect them to not try to relate every single class to Christ. We talk about Jesus in Math class. We pray before the start of every class, every day. We are required to go to convo (chapel) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week, but if you are looking for a place where you can grow as a Christian, there is no better place to be. Liberty can be one of two things for the Christian: the place to hide from God and live out a lukewarm faith while faking genuineness, or the place where God gets a hold of you and messes you up for His glory. God has rocked my world through my experience at LU. My plans may be completely shifted, but I glorify Him where I'm at now, and will continue to do so after I leave here.

The Lord has blessed this University, and may He continue to do so as long as Liberty is living out His purpose for this great institution.

Blessings.
