In my experience at Roosevelt University I have found the majority of administrators either unethical or incompetent, but ultimately useless! The culture is of a reactive administration that is forced into trouble shooting, only after a problem rears its ugly head. Most of the administrators are negative and rather lazy (especially those on the 8th floor). They sit on their butts and collect big fat paychecks along with great benefits. In my opinion, RU administrators exhibit petty power over students, because they are unable make it in the real world. The departments rarely communicate with any type of consensus, but will adamantly defend any administrators? absurd conclusions, contrary to the facts and any student?s best interest.

Student accounts and financial aid are usually unhelpful and love to quote policy. READ the RU policy and procedure manual word for word. RU administration will quote policy until its last dying breath. Stay clear of the registrar and all enrollment administrators. Don?t file any petitions! If you file a petition, you will most certainly be revered as a trouble maker. Petitioners at RU are simply thought of as a student who wants something for nothing!

Beware of any dealings with the advising department, and/or the academic success center. The center should be called the kiss the administrators? derri?re, as a means to receive some assistance center. I feel sorry for anyone with a disability at RU. The person in charge of helping those folks is a complete moron. It?s unclear if she even possesses an actual degree. Those with disabilities will be left with certain failure.

Words for students to live by while attending Roosevelt University, the students are always wrong, and if not wrong, they must be a trouble maker. RU administrators are still back in the stone ages, when they consistently refuse to legitimately address factual concerns and make genuine adjustments or changes. They are only concerned with making money.

Many classes at Roosevelt were marginal at best. Many professors are inconsistent and rely on the fact that the administration is merely concerned with making tons of money. Academics are at times challenging, but they should be. Fortunately for me, I am an A student. I found many of RU professors overly worried about the attendance policy. A distinction should be made between the Chicago and Schaumburg campuses. Not once in my class syllabuses, or as a policy in Schaumburg, or as a grade factor, were students forced to adhere to an attendance requirement. In Chicago, it was usually heavily correlated to ones ultimate grade. Suggests and has the appearance of a racial bias.

Overall, beware of RU and its worthless administration and marginal academia. Many at RU are either incompetent or simply don?t care. You and your hard earned money deserve much better. Roosevelt University is certainly not deserving of your potential, talents, and intelligence. Take those qualities to a university that will help you, respect you, and will allow you to be an individual. Every student deserves a university that will promote empowerment and will facilitate a positive culture for each to overcome weaknesses, thrive, excel, and ultimately succeed in life.
