Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
academics: amazing life science and engineering program. ask a random student what their major is and it'll probably be engineering or biology (not an issue, of course) social life: yeah, most people commute. the chill people (who treat UMBC like an actual college) live in the dorms/apartments or slightly off-campus. 90% of the commuters are asian or some form of middle-eastern descent. a lot of people claim that the campus is dead on the weekends, but honestly if you are at least remotely sociable and have a nice group of friends, you'll have plenty of things to do. parties are also not what people claim. during 2010-2011, i have averaged 1.5 parties a weekend. EVERY weekend. (i'm a guy, too) you just gotta know the people who throw them (the bigger ones are off-campus, of course). the people who claim that we have no party scene are the people who suck at finding them or suck at networking to find them. honestly, i wouldn't trade this life for anything. i enjoy myself during the week, and i enjoy myself during the weekends. sure we can use some more parties but a little effort wouldn't kill me either. i touched on the really important things that people complain about, but just assume everything else on campus is nice or on-par with your average university as well.
