EMU is a great school with a bad reputation. I love it here, but it can sting a little when people look down on you for being an Eagle. (My little cousin told me that EMU is the lowest he would ever go…) Part of its bad reputation comes from the city it's located in, but also because it is so non-competitive. EMU isn't concerned with having the best football team, or being part of the big 10 ? our policy is ?Education first? as it should be at every school. Having the U of M right down the road can be intimidating for many students and we are incredibly overshadowed by them, but I truly feel if EMU were located in a nice city away from University of Michigan we would be comparable to Western, Central, or Northern. If you can get past the snooty attitude people have about EMU then you will love it here!
