Biggest mistake of my life. How one decision ruined my career before it even got started. I was Communications major and the department was disorganized. I didn't learn anything while there. The department had this stupid philosophy of everyone participate. Of course everyone wanted to do the fun stuff, but when it came down the hard work everyone jetted. It got to the point where I just wanted at least something to turn in, never mind working on my craft and perfecting my skills. A C is better than an F. I spent thousands of dollars and when I came out of WIU I was not prepared.

Not only was I not prepared in an academic sense I had no connections, because the school is small. I quickly used up my network and now I am stuck. I pray every single night something full time comes up soon.

I also minored in African American Studies. The department is a joke. It was more disorganized than the communications department. As someone mention earlier my Professor also taught me about the Willie Lynch Letter. Never once mention that there was evidence that is a fake. Big dummy believed it. I also had an AAS professor offer to write me a recommendation for graduate school. When she found out that the article I wrote on her speech didn?t make the school paper, she blew me off—never got the recommendation. I would love to see her once again to tell her what I think her; because what she did to me was just wrong. The professors? way around their doctorate to ?prove? that they?re smart, but it really highlights how unintelligent they are. The entire department needs to be cut.

I think at one point this was a good school, but it is not anymore. When I decided that this was a bad school it was too little too late. School is expensive and at a certain point credits won?t transfer over; so it is either go in debt by transfer or stick it out.

Since graduating I have not gone back and have no plans to?unless one particular professor asks me to speak to his class.

Social scene sucks. If you are well rounded this school is not for you. All people do here is drink. There is absolutely nothing to do. Unless you want to join a sorority or fraternity, or you can always go to the overpriced movie theater in town that shows lame movies.

If you want the college experience as well as get a job once you are done, do not go to this school. They are used car salesman and will tell you anything to get you to come. Don?t make the same mistake I did.
