When I first got to Brevard College I was excite. Freshman year I noticed there were some weird general education classes that were required. One new program they started was called LINC (Learning IN Comminty). Two classes would share some similar theme. The theme was usually loosely connected, not very well if at all. The LINC classes all had to meet up and make silly presentations for the other LINC classes…was this college type work, or a waste of time? Waste of time. No student cared about this and usually dreaded the LINC meetings.

Housing needed work. Most dorms don't have AC. I can understand that it is not cheap to build or update student housing. Despite that it would've been nice to have something better. Small space, some of the restrooms were very old and worn looking.

There was a huge unethical problem invovling Dean of Student Life, RA's and the student government. A small group of students did not commonly get along with the majority of the student body. Many in this group became RA's, were on the student government positions and on the Judicial Board. I was on the judicial board. On the judical board, students would hear cases invovling student behavior problems, RA's would usually report the student in and the Dean of Student Life would oversee the board. However, many cases made against students were bogus, due to unethical and had it not been an private school, illegal searches! RA's would use a fire drill as an excuse to search dorms, espically ones RA's were not happy with. Stated in student handbook, RA"s are allowed to look in the door to make sure nobody is in, but RA's would claim they would find various incriminating things which were in plain sight. I fail to see how going into several closets and searching trash are within plain sight. The dean fully knew this was going on, and never did anything to cease such horrible actions taken on RA's. Several RA's would write up and report students, then sit on their hearing and state they were an unbiased judge…yeah right.

Lots of things to do outside, nothing near the school if you are a city fan…you'll have to drive 40 min for anything. Classes really focused more on the WLEE major than anything else. Sports were played up huge, even though they sucked.

Huge disconnect between students and admin. Cafeteria wasn't horrible…by no means great. Library was good, computer labs were good, class rooms…were ok.

When it came to the community, everybody was friendly. For the most part the campus felt like high school again. Lots of groups and cliques.

Its a small college, it was nice but admin. needs to do a lot of work. The student retintion is terrible. Tuition is WAY TOO MUCH!
