This review was written in 2011. Considering the fact that we are now in 2013, I'd like to know what you're opinions still are on the architecture programme. Also would you prefer it to, say, University of Texas at Austin. |
Major: Unknown (This Major's Salary over time)
I can't seem to understand why UIC gets such bad reviews. So far, I've had a positive experience at this school. I am an architecture major and the architecture program at UIC is very rigorous and requires a lot of hard work as well as time. My professors so far have been very helpful. They're willing to spend time outside of class to help and are very prompt at responding to emails, they're flexible and understanding to the students needs. I am a commuter and I have not had any problems meeting new people at school. Contrary to some of the bad reviews, I've noticed that people here are approachable and friendly. As long as you're willing to meet new people you won't have any problems making new friends. I've met some people who dorm too and they love it.Aesthetically, the school is average. We don't have a "green" quad and some of the buildings are not as pleasing as they can be but the school has been renovating buildings lately though which makes the campus much more welcoming. The location of the school is what helped me decide on coming here. UIC is located literally minutes outside of downtown. You also get a U-Pass which lets you ride the CTA for free which gets you to almost any point in the city. My only regret is not having dormed at UIC which I do plan on doing next year. All in all, UIC (as with any other school) is what you make it. So far my experience has been great and I have no intentions on transferring out.
