Major: Athletics/Training (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm a freshman here majoring in Athletic Training. I will be transferring next semester. High Point is a nice school, however it is not for me, at all. I'm from Georgia, and this school lacks the southern comfort I was promised. Most of the students I have met are arrogant and very close-minded. Adjusting to the Northern personalities has also been a big adjustment for me as many of the students are not very warm and welcoming. While some are quite nice, a great majority of the ones I have met found a clique quickly and became instantly closed off. They have a lot of campus activities, but most of the time I feel like I'm at a middle school summer camp rather than at an actual college campus. The lack of school spirit for athletics (not to mention the lack of football team!) is frustrating and makes for some boring weekends. Going to the frats has not proven to be very exciting, and I often times get jealous of the friends at other schools getting to go to sporting events, dance clubs, etc. I don't feel safe leaving the campus whatsoever, so I always have to have someone come with me if I need to run to Walmart. My professors are okay. Some make themselves readily available, while others admit their tests are practically impossible. My first advisor was great, while my second advisor had no interest in listening to my concerns. I would trade in all of the superficial aspects of this school for a real college experience.I am transferring because of the lack of diversity in majors, lack of athletics, lack of social opportunities, and the close-minded, cold student body.
