I got accepted into Pine Manor College,
my senior year of High School. I received an interview
with a counselor at my school and she was amazing
to speak with. She loved my college essay and didn't
allow my earlier years of high school grades affect her
decision in accepting me. My first two years of high
school were spent at a very rigorous examination school that
gave me hours of homework each night. I couldn't take
the overcrowded and arrogant setting, so as a sophomore I
decided to transfer to a regular public high school. The
work was fairly easy compared to my last school and
I enjoyed myself. My high school record wasn't the best
due to the terrible grades that I received at my
first high school; my final high school gpa was less
than a 3.4. Despite this, Pine Manor and four of
my other schools accepted me, but PMC was different. PMC offered me the most money, was
very affordable for a private school and was very similar
to my dream school that I did not get accepted
into. My other schools could have had my mom pay
as up to 20k a year for my tuition, but
they only asked for about 3k. PMC seemed perfect, it
was affordable, very small campus, seemed like a close community
of empowered women and art students were even housed in
the west village(turned out to be one of the best
things on campus). Unfortunately, Pine Manor turned out to be
anything but perfect. Within a week of me staying here,
as soon as the upperclassmen arrived there was a fight
between two girls and glass was broken; this was only
the beginning.
Ever since that first
fight happened, I saw the true colors of Pine Manor
College. Girls were being ?ghetto?, crazy, obnoxious and disrespectful towards
each other and kitchen staff. A rumor was started
about my lovely appearance even though I didn?t know anybody
and statements were made that they said I said. These
were clearly girls who weren?t raised with loving parents or
taught to accept any cultures other than they?re own. I
mean how could they learn by attending this college? The
majority of the girls were black. As a black American
I like being around a diverse setting, this school just
has a bunch of ?minorities? that get accepted in which
gives them the right to claim that it is diverse.
There are a few other races mixed in here and
there, but they are not in copious amounts as I
would like them to be.
The Professors are top notch, but some of the classes
are bullshit. I don?t what it is about this school,
but they offer a lot of nonsense classes that don?t
make sense. Despite that, the professors are amazing people who
care and are highly educated. I feel bad for them
sometimes because of the unintelligent girls in the classrooms who
have no respect for them or the class.
I am now a sophomore at Pine Manor
College and I am transferring in the fall of 2012.
I wrote the above paragraphs my freshman year with the
intention of posting this review at that time. Since then
the boys and girls from Mount Ida have taken over
2 buildings in the East Village. Now there is only
one village that is entirely dedicated to the Pine girls.
They lied to us and told us that only
MI girls would be renting, and no one noticed anything
until move in day of this year when we saw
all of the boys. This school has the potential
to become something great, but I can?t wait around for
that to happen.
