I fell in love with High Point University from the first time I visited. I was sold on the small school feel and the personal attention that I received. Not too long into my freshmen year however you realize that the school is one giant Marketing scheme.

They cater only to prospective students and freshmen, but once you are in your second year your screwed. Housing is a joke because everyone is forced to live on campus until at least your senior year but HPU only has standard housing for mainly freshmen. Meaning that you are forced to pay an additional fee on top of the so called "Comprehensive Fee".

The school is not diverse at all as it is more common to hear someone with a New England or Jersey accent speak to you here rather then a southern one (despite it's location in NC). The school is completely fine with the fact that greek life dominates the campus and even went out of their way to build them a Greek Village.

The town is not only unsafe but the citizens of High Point hate all HPU students and one was even recently held at gun point right outside the campus gates. The school tries to sell the illusion that the campus is secure but it's a known fact that dorms get broken into all the time at the off campus buildings (Village, UVille, NC Terrace and Court).

I can not wait to transfer and get away from all the stuck up kids who make sure to mention or flaunt their wealth every other sentence. You do not need grades or even a brain to get into HPU, all one needs is a large checkbook. It is a shame that such a beautiful campus can be filled with such stupid, ignorant, and self-centered people.

If you a High school senior interest in coming here, don't. The amount of money that you would waste here can be put towards a much better education at any state school.
